THE CELL MEMBRANE

The main function of the cell membrane is to provide a barrier that facilitates a different chemical environment inside the cell, from outside. The membrane selectively controls what can enter and leave the cell, and the quality of the membrane dictates what cellular communication can occur.

The cell membrane is made from Fats and Proteins. It is the proteins that are the doors and windows of the cell, and the essential fats are required in the membrane to host the proteins.

The main objective of the program is to re-nurture the cell's deficencies and to remove toxicity from the cell. For this to happen, nutrients must be able to pass through the membrane into the cell, and toxicity must be able travel through the membrane in the opposite direction.

No tissue in the body is more affected by deficencies and toxicity than cell membranes. The main reasons for this are:-

  • The essential fats have been greatly restricted in the typical western diet in recent generations.

  • The essential fats are easily damaged and ruined by modern food processing methods.

  • Many of the required nutritional co-factors required for the absorption of the essential fats are deficent in the typical western diet.

  •  The essential fats that are required by the membrane are also required to produce the cellular hormones, the eicosanoids, which regulate all cellular activity. There is a constant demand for the essential fats to maintain life. If there is a shortage of fats due to dietary issues, the body will be forced to take fats from the cell membrane. This contributes further to reducing the cells ability to remove it waste, resulting in a more toxic cell.

  • Many toxins are fat soluble, and are stored in the cell membrane.

  • Toxins can lock onto membrane communication receptors, resulting in faulty cellular communications.

For the above reasons, the quality and integrity of the cell membrane must be addressed early in the program. The membrane transport channels must be open allowing access to the cell, before we can begin to remove the toxicity and re-nuture the cells.
