SUPPORTING THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

The Endocrine glands produce hormones. Appropriate hormone production is essential for regulating many of the bodies systems. When the body has a problem or experiences stress, the endocrine system is the first line of defence that tries to restore balance. This helps explain why we first observe overactivity of a gland followed by exhaustion. An exhausted gland often results from the depletion of the basic nutrient ingredients required to produce hormones.

The objective hear is to ensure the basic nutritional requirements are available for the biochemical pathways involved in the production of hormones.

The requirements of the seven endocrine glands overlap considerably, and they also have unique requirements which may require specific support depending on the case.

The first step in hormone production requires the cell to produce a family of chemicals known as prostaglandins and eicosanoids, and the first requirement in the production of prostaglandins/eicosanoids are essential fatty acids, which we should have addressed in the previous step. Again demonstrating how important it is to work in a logical sequence.
